I got back to them and set up a consultation that was about a month later. At the consultation, they greeted me when I walked in, and the surgeon talked me through every single question I had—which was a lot, considering I probably had 50 and a whole document to write down the answers. He was willing to talk in detail about each one and made me feel so informed and confident. Before the physical exam, he asked for consent before touching and only did so to explain the results! Afterwards, I talked with the staff about the financials and booking a date. I was able to get a date a month out (the earliest possible) and paid the deposit there! They explained exactly the price of everything and what it included. Unfortunately, this office DOES NOT take insurance.
The pre-op appointment was simple and straightforward—essentially just a check-in before surgery and payment.
Surgery day was great! They talked with me and my caretaker about any last-minute questions and even asked what song I wanted played when going under. In the operating room, they started anesthesia right away, which was really nice for my nerves, and when I woke up, they got me into a wheelchair, gave my caregiver some information, and helped me get into the car.
Recovery sucked—don’t get me wrong—but it was pretty straightforward. I had one or two issues with pain and a drain falling out, but the staff was very responsive! They close relatively early and are closed on weekends, but they were able to help over the phone when needed.
I’m now almost two months out and have had five post-op appointments. The first three were check-ins to get drains out and switch compression vests (for me, that took over two weeks—longer than average, which explains why there were three appointments). The fourth appointment was when the tape was removed and they checked in since recovery was mostly over. The fifth was one of the laser scar treatments that were included in the price of surgery!
Needing top surgery is hard enough, and going to Craft MD was the best and easiest decision I’ve made. I can’t recommend them enough!
